BookScope does not collect, store or transmit any data about you. Here is exactly what it does and does not do.

What BookScope reads

BookScope runs only on Amazon book pages you are already viewing — search results and Best Sellers lists on amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, amazon.ca, amazon.com.au, amazon.de and amazon.in. It reads the rank, price, reviews, format and publication details shown on those pages, and, when a result card does not show a Best Sellers Rank, it fetches that book's public product page from the same Amazon store to read it.

What it does not do

It does not collect or transmit anything about you: no browsing history, no search terms, no identifiers, no analytics, no crash reports.
It does not modify Amazon pages beyond adding its own panels, and it never clicks, buys or signs in on your behalf.
It does not load remote code. Everything it runs ships inside the extension.

The one outbound call

If you buy a licence, the key you enter on the options page is sent to Dodo Payments, the payment provider, to check that it is valid and to bind it to your browser. That check repeats silently about once a week. Nothing else is sent, and nothing about which books you look at is ever included.

What stays on your computer

Product details BookScope reads from Amazon are cached in your browser for 24 hours so pages load faster and Amazon is asked less often. Your settings and licence state are stored in Chrome's extension storage, which Chrome may sync between your own signed-in browsers. You can clear the cache from the options page at any time, and uninstalling the extension removes everything.
